Instagram may not seem like the obvious social media marketing platform for your business. This might be especially true if your business is service-based or not particularly image-led.  

 Yet, the photo sharing site is the third largest social media platform in the world behind Facebook and YouTube. One billion users log onto it every month and users are checking it multiple times per day.  

 So, the opportunities to reach new audiences are huge. Even if you are a service-based business.  

 Let’s take a look at 5 reasons why you need Instagram for your business.

Close conversation 

Instagram is known for creating small communities on its site. These are usually found through particular hashtags. If you are looking for a certain set of people to know about your brand, then all you need to do is find the right hashtags and it will allow you to connect with those people.  

For example, #bookstagram is a hugely popular hashtag on Instagram used by publishers, writers and bibliophiles. If you were looking to curate a following of well-read adults, then this would be a good place to start a conversation.

 If you have a particularly powerful image or message that you want people to see no matter when they find you, then Instagram has the capacity to do this. This is useful if you have products to launch or a particular message you want your audience to read.  

 While most social media platforms have a short life-cycle for content, you can highlight your most important content on your profile.  

 Simply upload it as an Instagram story and then when it is running, set it as a highlight. This keeps the content at the top of the grid on your profile for as long as you need.
