Whether you like your Christmas season hot hot hot, are in need of a snowy festive holiday, or want to ring in the New Year en famille, we’ve got some inspirational ideas to share:

A holiday husky sledding through snowy forests and mountains of Swedish Lapland will certainly ensure the kids have a memorable story to share at school in January. Spend your days gliding through stunning Swedish landscapes then relax by a toasty stove in log cabins deep in the wilderness by night. There’s also great possibility of seeing the astonishing natural light show, the infamous Northern Lights. We recommend staying at the renowned Ice Hotel in Jukkasjarvi. It is an exhilarating (if a little chilly) experience sleeping in thermal sleeping bags on reindeer hide-covered beds of ice. There are tons of activities including ice fishing, snowmobile safaris (searching for the elks), snow shoeing and ice-sculpting to name a few. A night in Stockholm on your way home to explore and delight in the Christmas spirit is not to be missed.

For an unforgettable experience, welcome in 2015 in tented safari style bungalows on the unspoilt and stunningly beautiful island of Pemba in Tanzania. The remote ‘rustic chic’ island is accessible only by boat, with fascinating views of the Indian Ocean. Stay at the luxury lodges of Fundu Lagoon and while away your days diving off Masali Island, snorkeling and relaxing by the pool followed by barefoot cocktails at the bar at sundowners. Perfect.

If you’re travelling en famille with keen golfers on board, head to the golf & tennis resort of Verdura in Sicily. Home to the 2012 Sicilian Open Championship, the three links-style golf courses will keep the golfers busy whilst the kids enjoy the water sports, biking and tennis, or book into the kids club for an array of fun activities for all ages. Don’t leave without experiencing the open air thalassotherapy pools within the Verdura Spa…… pure bliss.

Alternatively the Ritz Carlton Jumeirah Beach in Dubai is a luxury sophisticated resort next to The Emirates Golf Club. The hotel design is unique for the area in that it is low rise so has a more intimate feel and the perfect setting for families. The Ritz Kids Club has a jam-packed programme to enjoy, while the adults can relax in the peace of the adults-only pool a stones throw from the beach.

For a mix of pure relaxation and interesting culture, check out the uber chic Amanjena in Marrakech. This stylish minimalist hideaway is absolutely fabulous and pure luxury for a relaxing and indulgent holiday break. If you can tear yourself away from the tranquil ancient bassin (irrigation pool) which lies at the heart of the property, there’s golf, tennis, pool, bikes and fabulous spa (but no kids club). The vibrant historic city of Marrakesh is accessible for a day roaming around the souks, historic buildings and gardens; then be sure to retreat back to the serenity of Amanjena (meaning ‘peaceful paradise’ in Arabic) as the sun goes down.

The powdery snow, chilly weather, log cabins and sparkling lights set the festive scene like none other. If you’re keen skiers, some people say that Canada is the ‘ultimate’ ski destination, and with its spectacular scenery, Whistler is unbeatable. Equipped with pistes for all abilities, there’s more than enough to keep you energised for the whole winter, plus heli-skiing and snowmobiling for the adventurous. Stay at the Fairmont Chateau or Four Seasons Hotel for pure luxury, or the Nita Lake Lodge for a quieter peaceful stay away from the bustle of Whistler Village.

For our final suggestion for a holiday for the whole tribe, explore the incredible wildlife while on safari at Mana Pools National Park in the north of Zimbabwe. The Park stretches from Lake Kariba to the border of Mozambique in the east, within the Zambezi River Valley. You’ll absolutely love the unique once-in-a-lifetime experience of canoeing amongst hippos, walking through riverine forest with elephants, and staying at one of the lodges with a mobile canoe safari. Wow.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year for a holiday!
